Land Warrior

In the effort of saving lives on the battlefield, Raytheon Systems Company has come up with The Land Warrior. Their priorities are lethality, survivability, and command and control. This system has several subsystems: the weapon, integrated helmet assembly, protective clothing and individual equipment, computer/radio, and software. All of these systems are linked through a computer that is worn on the soldiers back. The weapon unit has a video camera, range finder and a digital compass. The helmet has an eye piece that allows the soldier the switch from the video on his weapon to a GPS that has live updates of where everyone is on the battlefield. The clothing and equipment are a self-contained system that incorporates all the wires that connect the radio, computer, and eye piece. This new system allows a greater control of the battlefield and will hopefully save lives. The number of friendly fire incidents should be cut down with the capability of GPS coordinates of friendlies. The technology getting smaller allows the soldier to carry this equipment with just a little extra weight but with tons of benefits.
