Like most computer vendors, Dell switched almost all of their offerings to Microsoft Vista, but consumers have been asking them to bring back Windows XP. Dell already added back Windows XP as an option for its business computers, but now it has made it available on several consumer desktop and notebook computers. Analysts say this is a sign that Vista is just not clicking with consumers.
Vista has some new tricks, but I'm not sure it's that compelling of an upgrade for me. It certainly takes a lot more resources and can perform more slowly than Windows XP. Plus there is all the annoying Digital Rights Management stuff. I wonder how in-tune Microsoft is with what customers really want?
I know Microsoft is bragging now about how fast Vista is selling, but it was only a couple of months ago that they were lamenting about slow Vista sales.
