After getting my new MAC, and being mobile for the first time, I found it frustrating to get on the Internet if I wasn't at home or at school. So I decided to take things into my own hands and figure out how to 'crack' a basic WEP security protocol. Coming from a Linux background I was used to using the terminal for all encryption cracking or "Packet Injection."
After doing this the hard way for the past year there is now an easier way using your MAC ... a little application called kisMAC, and a specific usb wifi device, in my case a DWL-G122 vB1.
The video listed on the website below will give you a visual representation of how easily this can be done. It reminded me of our chapter 5 slides and how we go from the Application Layer down to the Data Link Layer, which you do when trying to crack 'wep'.
Check out the video, if you have a MAC see how long it takes on your own connection.
