The Internet is Broken

In this article titled "The Internet is Broken" it gives a background of the benefits that we have received from the Internet. Obviously we all now rely on this relatively new creation. The use of many things that were once necessary including newspapers, letters, and to some point telephones are now in some cases obsolete.
But the title suggests the problems with the Internet. In many points made throughout this article (which there is 14 pages so many space to do so) the author does just that. At one point comparing the Internet to Times Square in the 80's. Which was know for drugs, sex, and just the crazieses. The difference from Times Square then and the Internet now is that Rudy Giuliani the mayor fixed NYC, but the Internet is just getting worse.
This brings the question when does the architecture for the Internet get changed. In many people's minds including the author and myself it is past time. The lack of security in the Internet is causing many people to try to get around doing things on the Internet. Which is the opposite of t he creation and the plans for the Internet.
According to Symantec 60% of all emails are spam. Which causes viruses and can ruin a company. Many people use the Internet to attack businesses. Out of the 100 companies Symantec interviewed 17 said they had "hackers" cause huge problems to the infrastructure of their company.
Yes, I use the Internet and in many cases (like studying) it makes everything easier, but without changes soon to the security the ease that is associated with the Internet will be nonexistent.
