For the first time since the implementation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2003 they finally received a grade that wasn't an F!!! Congratulations?
No, the grade they received was D. As business student at CSUSM we have learned that at C- doesn't even pass. So why are they making such a big deal about this D they received. The reoccurring problems for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has came in the form of "cybersecurity issues."
These problems we have discussed in this wonderful HTM class and we all see the lack of security over the Internet. I'm sure we have all had our own problems, but the problems that happen at a National level can cause serious problems with our safety.
"Liz Gasster, acting executive director of the Cybersecurity Industry Alliance, whose members include RSA and Symantec, said her organization was somewhat encouraged by the ratings but believes more work must be done. 'While FISMA is an important first step in providing heightened information security awareness for agencies,' she said, 'there are not nearly enough consequences for those agencies who fail to comply.' Well I'm glad you are engorged. but, yes obviously more work needs to be done, you all still got a D.
