With all of the problems that happen with children and the Internet has gotten out of control. From all the sickos on CNN to many more children looking at pictures or visit sites that are not suitable for minors. But the problem with the Internet is that anyone can visit these sites unless there are some blocks put on the computers. This article recommends putting a tag on these sites that are unsuitable for children. In theory this is a great idea, but the problem is that how will this tag stop children from entering this new tag when looking for these sites. When I was a lot younger my parents put blocks on these sites so that I would not be able to see these "dirty" pictures. Without the parents getting involved in what their kids are doing this tag will have no change on the accessibility of adult sites for children. It is easy enough to set blocks on these sites. So yes this new tag is a start to help the safety of our children. But without the parents looking out or protecting their own kids then nothing will change. The government is trying to help the kids as a whole but if parents paid more attention to what their kids were doing on the Internet then the problem would be taken care of.

I agree with what the article talk about. In my opinion, it is the parents' responsibility to put tags on web content that are not for children.
If all adult websites were properly tagged, it would help tremendously.
Right now you can tell Internet Explorer to block adult content. (Tools/Internet Options/Content Tab/Enable Content Advisor), but there are so many sites that do not have ratings. You have 2 choices:
1) Let unrated sites be displayed (lets the many unrated adult sites through)
2) Don't display any unrated sites. Unfortunately there are may sites that parents would not find objectionable that would be blocked. It's so bad you can end up typing in a password every 2 minutes, so that your kids can do their homework.
I agree that parents need to take responsibility for what their kids are browsing, but this change would provide a lot of assistance.
There are also good software packages out there to help control how much time kids spend on the computer, where they browse, etc.

I think it's really hard to control what kids can see or do on the Internet. Kids will somehow manage to get access to sites that they shouldn't be seeing. I think it's important that parents talk to their children the potential danger of using the Internet inappropriately. I guess just like everything, there needs to be an open communication between parents and their children.
